just forget it

Really...? Paperwork......? to give a dead fish to a couple kids that had not had any luck, and said their Dad would cook it for them? Now maybe that wasn't the truth, but I don't know that. I didn't give that fish away "on the water", I was already hooked up and ready to leave the ramps when they ask me if I had caught anything. Is Wiper a protected species? If so, and an authority person is going to make an issue out of this, then I expect them to do more aggressive enforcement of all the happy harvesters at the inlet every spring that are snagging, and keeping way more than a days limit of fish. They haven't even paid the daily entrance fee, or a annual pass fee, and would bet that many of them don't even have a valid fishing license.
I buy a license every year, I buy an annual pass every year, I adhere to every state law concerning boating safety, registration, insurance, required equipment, invasive species, I am ethical angler that doesn't cull out smaller dead fish (of any species) in order to keep a bigger one, and IF and WHEN I keep fish to take home, I ONLY keep the legal limit, and many times less.
Pat if I sound agitated, I am. I respect your vast experience and knowledge of the fishing in this state. But really......? If you had not said anything, would anyone else have even known that I made a legal technicality mistake? Maybe next time you would be so kind as to clue me (or others) in a PM. But thanks anyway for the info.
