I believe the Grayling stocked in SIlver Flat are hatchery-raised adults, so you won't see the beautiful colors or long-sweeping dorsal fins (males only) that these fish are capable of. Need to seek out more secluded lakes where they are planted as fry or self-sustaining to truly appreciate their beauty (and fighting ability).
Regarding your crowd issues, best way to beat that on "put & take" lakes is to be on the water at first light and blow out of there by mid/late morning.
EZ access + hatchery slime rockets = mass crowding.
