Kokanee no problem, but need help with lakers
#5
Depends where you're at really. I fish mostly in the canyon and have been picking up some pups and bows while targeting kokes early in the morning with shallow gear (planer boards and snap weights). They've been tight to the surface too. I've been trolling four rods when we're out, two out to the side with planers and two on the down riggers. When I'm trolling kokes and mark lake trout deeper, I'll quickly drop the down rigger set and try to catch them. If I mark some concentrations of them, and can't catch them trolling by, I'll set a waypoint and try to find them later. If I'm specifically targeting the lakers, pups in this case, they seem to prefer spoons like Northland Forage Minnows or RMT Viper Serpents at a slightly slower speed (1.6mph) than kokanee. It's always fun to jig the concentrations too, using a 3-4 inch white tube jig or jigging spoon tipped with sucker/chub meat.

Hope that helps a little, Ryno
