Bob, I've had just the opposite reaction in my boat while using gas with ethanol. I use Seafoam and granted my boat is two year older than yours but my motor was spitting and shuddering when I got it and knowing that getting water in my gas could cause this problem, I started using Ethanol free gas and the problem went away. I did do some reading about this problem and it appears that those boats that have metal gas tanks have a much bigger problem with this issue than those with plastic tanks. I have no idea what kind of tank I have in my boat but because it is such a problem for my motor, I'm guessing it is metal. You can look it up on the web, lots of boats have this problem and some of them have had to spend hundreds, even thousands to fix problem this issue causes when they have let it go on for too long. For the low cost of using Ethanol free gas, it is money well spent, IMO.
