Motorcycle trails near Blue Notch (Lake Powell)
#3
As the previous poster mentioned, there are numerous routes into the Blue Notch and Red Canyon areas. The main roads are San Juan County roads and they are usually maintained well during the spring through fall months. The current condition could have been affected over the winter.

The roads and trails down near the lake will be on Glen Canyon National Recreation Area property and there are restrictions prohibiting off road or cross country travel. You would probably be OK using existing trails made by people accessing the shoreline during low water.

The SJ County road from State Road 95 to the water at Blue Notch is about 13.5 miles long and it has some spots where high clearance is needed in the wash crossings.

There is no fee collection station along the Blue Notch route. You would need a Glen Canyon boat permit if you plan to use a boat. The boat permits would be available near the Ranger Station at Hite and they could answer your questions about the roads and trails.

Good luck and have fun.
