While the stunting is a problem in a lake where the crappie can consistently have a successful spawn it's less of a problem at PV. Most years the best spawning habitat is high and dry by the time the smoky are emerging from their eggs. The last real successful spawn for the crappie was about 5 years ago when the water was going over the spillway through early summer. That said the 8-10 inchers are about what you'd expect on the slower growth rate of northern waters.
But I do think there are plenty in there to catch if you know the spots.
