[#0000FF]I'm glad we were all able to make it and that the weather was so nice for our gathering. Actually, I was going to stay in that area too...since that is where I caught my first couple of fish. But once you slipped in and some boats started showing up I worked on up the shoreline. Never did find a concentration of fish but caught enough to keep me awake.
That spot where everybody ganged up was one of the spots I fished with Scott last year. Seems to be a natural magnet. Must be some special bottom conditions at the right depth.
I have been in contact with several "regulars" who usually do pretty well on whitefish. They all have their fave lures and the fish have been hittin on a lot of different things. The key is to first find the fish and then make the right presentation for the lure you are using. Some work better with a slow drag and lift off the bottom. Others work better with a steady slow retrieve...just above the bottom. Still others produce better with a very slow vertical almost dead-stick approach. It requires knowing the characteristics of the lure and how the fish are responding...or not. Then fine tune your approach until the fish vote for it. And don't change something if it's working. But do change if it's not. Simple...but not easy.
