Back country Llama Packing & Fishing
#36
I know that there are several that hunt with them. The animals look at them longer before walking off as they try to figure them out.
If people are not seen as the herd leader they will butt you in an attempt to be the dominate animal. When my kids were smaller they would ride them on the pack Saddle or lead them when they were 4 years old . Mine are dehorned .
Older animals will bond with people but it takes longer and the bond is usually not as strong. Ones bottle fed from birth are as friendly as a dog in a lot of cases. I'm sure lamas would be the same. Bateman tack and Saddle in idaho makes goat and lama Saddles and panniers. Lamas are better for 12+ miles a day over several days. But I know some that have 60 miles in 4 days with a few thousand feet in elevation change.
