A properly trained Packgoat does not have to be lead and will follow. They easily accept a
dle and pack. I put 4 full size goats (175-230 lbs) in a 6' truck bed if needed. I put 20-50 lbs on each depending on distance and the shape they are in.

They are great for days about 10-11 miles in length and going through Boulder fields and other rocky terrain. Two of us took 4 goats each and did 24 miles in three days this fall. Just like with lamas they must be bonded to people or they will be hard to catch and use. I keep mine tied up at night so an animal doesn't scare them off. They brouse near by as I cook and deal with camp chores or when fishing throught the day.
