[#0000FF]Yeah, it has been a while since our introductory session. Sounds like you have done well since. But as I have found, there are always new molds I just gotta have. I think I am up to almost 50 now.
That reminds me...and I almost forgot. I got a new football head mold toward the end of the (short) ice season last year. I got it especially to be able to make "bug-eye" jig heads...for the Gizzy Bugs and similar. I was happy with the horizontal balance and the appearance of the painted up heads. I can make 1/16 heads on down to size 8 hooks...and heavier but not too much larger 1/8 heads on anything from size 6 to size 2. See pics of the smaller models below. I make them in all the standard "food groups"...white/red eye, chartreuse/red eye, pink, olive, black, etc. Sadly, never did get a chance to put them to the full season test...but do like the way they present.
For a knot, I recommend the improved clinch knot, and running the line through the hook eye twice before completing the knot. Moisten it well and slide it down snug and your knots will be stronger and will anchor in place better.
I use the minnow head mold for a lot of applications. Not only for fishing tube jigs but for fishing twisters and shad bodies too. I have modified my mold to allow pouring the 1/16 oz. head on larger hooks...up to 4/0...so I can fish 3 and 4 inch twisters in shallow water without snagging all the time. You can't get small heads on large hooks at most retail outlets. And I reverse that too. Sometimes I need a heavier head on a smaller hook for fishing perch in deeper water. Bingo. 1/8 oz. head on a size 6 hook. I have a lot of easy modifications I can show you if you are ever down this way again...or I can send pics and instructions.
