With the position of the pump it looked like you had intended for the pump to ride up out of the water when the boat is on plane, and that's what I'm looking to do with my setup. Though, imthesmf brings up a good point that the pump can be rigged to draw water in while on plane,,, something I need to consider as I make long runs on Mohave.

My boat's built-in livewell is rigged not to draw water while on plane, so I was just duplicating how they had it rigged, but that livewell isn't conducive to keeping shad happy as it's 1' square and 4' long. It's completely insulated and my striper cooler, so I didn't want to use that for bait...

When I get my tank (trash can) I need to figure out the same thing, good way to tie it to the swim platform without it moving around, thinking of a couple of ratchet straps, or those straps with the pinch lock.

I have an old 36 gallon plastic truck box that's really nice, and I thought about using for the tank, but it seemed completely over-kill and would hog up the swim platform too much. I'd love to get some of those monster gizzards and target the big stripers, so thinking I'll need a fairly big tank, thus the Brute trash can for bait tank V1.0.

Also, just a heads-up on the Attwood Tsumani pumps, I had one of those that was 2-3 years old lock-up on my boat. It was a live well pump that's submerged every time the boat is in the water, so maybe 200-300 hours of being submerged. I ripped it apart and the (carpy) shaft seal leaked and rusted up the motor, so it looks like they have a poor design. Bummer as I have 2- of those 800 GPH bilge pumps, a 500 for the live well and now another 500 for the bait tank. When I replaced the cartridge on the failed pump, I took the new one apart and greased the shaft and seal, hoping it lets the pump live longer...
