[#0000FF]You are taking this (and yourself) far too seriously. I was poking fun at a bonehead mistake that should be beyond someone of his knowledge and experience. If I made a similar mistake (and I have) I would expect others to catch me on it (and they have). And I don't go ballistic about it.
Get to know him? What makes you think I don't? I have been in the same places at the same time and observed how he "interacts" with other people. Let's just say that we have different philosophies. And more than a few of the DWR folks I know and like have less than complimentary opinions of him too...based upon their own personal interactions.
Doing things for others? Not many other folks who have contributed more in time, personal resources and "show and tell" sessions...for more newbies and youngsters...than I have. There are a lot of people on this board...and around the country...who have received things from me either for free or at less than my cost. And I don't run commercials between every tidbit of useful info either.
Again. Nothing personal with Gary. And his target audience has nothing to do with getting the facts right. And even worse are the shows where he unceremoniously throws trout over the side of the boat. In one case the camera caught a slot cutt on Strawberry laying motionless on its side after being held for several minutes of rhetoric and then tossed overboard. The camera quickly pulled away but not before some of us registered what we had just seen. If he is trying to set a good example it should begin with how he handles fish.
