Back in the 70's my father in law when we was fishing for cats he hooked a pike and got it all the way in but got off when he tried to pull it on shore, we got a good look at it but at the time was not sure what it was..
Then in the early 80's when fishing by bird I Land I got a pike that was 18" long and as skinny looking as know as the hammer handle and let it go..
Some may be from Yuba but they have been showing up for many year but until the internet no one was hearing about them..
And if you are not fishing with line they can not cut or hooked just right who knows??
