So the last couple of Posts form Doggonefishin and Fishrmn indicate that the size of the fish may have been a factor. Possible, as the ones being moved by the bucket bios would most likely be adults and of spawning capability, but how many of them have been moved?? my guess is not that many. So you move say 3 or 4 gravid females and a couple of males, they get a spawn off and you get instant pike !! It doesn't work that way, you usually have to stock thousands of fry or fingerlings over a period of years to get a viable population established.
This could be another Lake Powell Striper story. Stripers were stocked at Powell and virtually disappeared in the lake for almost 8-10 years before they reappeared and have been a major player there since. Could some of those pike that were planted years ago have just maintained a small population till conditions were right and they took off ??? I will leave it to better minds than mine to cogitate on that !!
