As long as your keeping the hub full of water repelling grease, you should be good for two years or more. But any time you make a lot of long trips in hot weather conditions, it is always a good idea to take them apart and check them more often. I think most people assume when you buy something new, it is going to last for a while, the problem is, you just don't know about the quality of the parts that were used when they put it together or if the guy putting them together was having a bad day when he did the job. Always a good idea to check the wheel bearing before a long trip. I've had both bearing lube systems and they are both good IMO but if water gets into the mix and then it sits for a while, that is the weak link in the system, that will cause a failure. I read from your post that you can buy a complete hub assy at Bass Pro for $40, is that correct or did I read it wrong? Because later in the thread you said you bought a complete hub for $50 on Amazon.
