10 species in Utah 2015
#6
It's a lot of fun to decide to target a fish you've never caught before. I've only got a couple of Utah sport fish that I haven't caught.

Northern Pike
Tiger Musky
Striper
Wiper
Grayling
Golden Trout

My dad told me that I caught a grayling many years ago when he was working for the Forest Service in the Uintahs when I was 5 or 6, but I don't remember it so it doesn't count. He also thinks I've caught Golden trout, but I don't think I would have been able to hike in far enough at that age to any of the lakes that held them back then (the olden days according to my kids.)

I've had some big Northerns on when I was in high school out of the Sevier river around Delta, but never landed one. I also almost caught one in the Spanish Fork river by the ball parks a little while ago. I had it out of the water with its weight on the line when it started flipping around and gut the line. It wasn't very big, but it would have counted. I've planned a couple of trips to Yuba to get that one off the list, but the weather always goes bad on the days I plan on going. I'll just plan on going every day and the drought will be over!

Another place to target tiger trout is Currant Creek Res up above Strawberry . I've been up there a couple of times and I've been able to catch a dozen or so tigers each time. And I kept them all. [Wink] Ok, not really. The only fish I kept on any of the trips was a 4 lb, football-shaped cutthroat that absolutely swallowed the spinner and was hooked in the gills.

Keep us posted on the progress.
