Fly Fishing for Steelheads in Michigan<br><br>Here is the location I promised;<br><br>Take I75 to M23 East to Wadsworth street turn right you are there. Tawas (City) <br><br>There are many locations in the area that you will want to try.<br>East Tawas up to Oscoda then inland, follow your way up the Ausable River any where you can get on, up to the Foote Dam Pond.<br><br>Note when you here a siren going off you got 15 minutes to get out of the river. The dam is opening and you will get washed away if you are wading any near. <br><br>I do a little schnook salmon fishing in the area in the early fall.<br><br>Watch out for those pesky lampreys, I have seen them come in attached to the side of a salmon as well as catching them on hook and line.<br><br>your answer for when they start is any day now. What you want to do is get on the horn and call a local bait shop in the area. they will be happy to accomidate you with up to the minute info.
