Tried something new
#7
I hooked into a couple trout early on that went aerial on me and through the hook. I was using cranks. Here is a pic of the planer boards.
When I slow down with planers to retrieve a fish, still get tangles sometimes, so don't use them much. I suspect some skitty fish may be scared off by the board
Maybe I've not used them correctly, though.

Used to be some cranks can be "tuned" to some degree so they stay apart, but still had issues when I slowed down. Not as bad as planers though, because some can be run at lower speed and still keep some tension, while retrieving a fish. I've run a trailing non-bill lure with a line attached to the front running crank with success in deep water.

Hope this helps.
