Will it work as an ice-fishing rod?
#18
That's exactly why I bought an inexpensive ice pole here in CA. There is a little lake that I go to fish at and break in new equipment. Many anglers/harvester go there to rake in on the Tilapia. They use giant ocean poles rated for 50 or 100lb fish and 40 to 80lb line.

All that just to pull in little 3/4 to 1lb fish. My son and I on the other hand go with ultra light gear. They laugh at us and smirk, saying "What do you expect to catch with those puny little twigs"? We don't reply.

Our only response is a hook up after hook up and staying busy for the 2 or 3 hrs that we are there. Occasionally we turn to watch the other guys that were talking so loudly about our little willow branches, only to see them mad cause they aren't catching a thing and TubeNtoo and I are haveing all the fun with our little twigs.

TubeNtoo has a little ice pole that he got some years ago from TubeDude. He caught a 1 1/2 lb Tilapia one day. That is the biggest one that I have ever seen come out of that lake. Needles to say, everone else on the lake was in dismay on how a young boy with a small rod beat out all the ocean poles with heavy riggs.
