No one can predict the bite. Fish don't have calendars or maps so they go where the currents and food supply take them. The reel key to a successful fishing trip is the captain. There's a saying that "10% of the fishermen catch 90% of the fish". If the bite is slow and you're not fishing with a 10%'er, then catching a fish is pure luck.
I agree with "don't just go for a boat ride". In fact, it's pretty much my logo [cool]
