I was down at Fish Lake also today - fished just north of Twin Creeks. Was actually targeting perch but only caught 3. Nice size ones though. Our group of 5 probably caught close to 100 trout - the bite just didn't stop. I'd guess 1/3 were splake the rest rainbows. Didn't matter much what lure or bait we used. Wax worms, crawlers, perch strips and chub strips all caught trout on whatever jig we used (my first fish today was a chub so we used it). Ice was 5 inches thick. Fish were caught from 5 ft depths out to 25 ft and you could catch them anywhere from 5ft to the bottom. Most of the splake came right off the bottom. If you went a few minutes without a bite a quick hard snap jig would bring them in. Splake ranged from 8 inches to a nice 20 inches. Rainbows about the same - our largest taped at 17 inches. Everything except the chub and the perch were released.
Afterwards we checked out Joes Bush area. West from the access was solid 4 to 5 but east got really thin very fast. It was all capped so should be okay for next week if temps stay the same or cool down. Sure was a zoo on the south end.
