Went to Fish Lake This Morning Jan. 17th
#5
Thanks for your report gnorth, I wished I'd check on the north but ran out of time. Your report is just what I needed.

It's great to know the north has finally built an ice base, now the night cold can work on it and get some thickness. The darn wind has been blowing the ice of for the last month up there, it will take a really, really high wind to move it now. I think we may be over the hump. Still, caution, caution, caution, regardless.

As crowded as the south end was, out on the ice there was tons of room still, especially closer to shore, in the better perch areas. A lot of the folks were have trout today and were working a little further out than were the really high concentrations of perch are generally found. It's interesting, those ice tent all looked like were lined up in a pretty straight line but the guys fishing the east end of the line were in 18/20 of water and the guys on the west end were in 45'. Perch like to stay pretty close to that moss bank.

Thanks a lot for the update. I'll be running up to the lake mid week and I'll drill a few holes at Joe Bush and out in front of Mackinaw, and I'll update the ice depths information here, when I get back.

At any rate, I can't see ever being over crowded on the lake itself, parking is a bigger concern. I'll do what I can to get as much parking cleared of snow, I'm not sure what the options are but I'll find out and let folks know.
