Minnow Identification??
#4
2 things. First. Don't bring them home and put them in water.

Several years ago a member had some minnows that he caught and took home. Put one in an aquarium. If memory serves me correctly, he was paid a visit by the UDWR and it was explained to him the error of his ways.
From the guidebook.
Quote:You may not transport live fish or crayfish away from the water where they were caught.

Second. Can't seem to find weather loach on the list of approved bait fish. You'd be better off to ask someone at the DWR for a clarification, but I wouldn't assume that just because you caught them that you can use them as bait.
More from the guidebook.
Quote:While you are fishing, it is unlawful to:
• Use or possess corn, hominy or live
baitfish
• Use or possess tiger salamanders (live
or dead)
• Use or possess any bait if you are on
waters designated artificial fly and lure
only
• Use or possess artificial baits that are
commercially imbedded or covered with
fish or fish parts
[red]• Use or possess bait in the form of fresh
or frozen fish or fish parts, except as provided below:[/red]
• Dead Bonneville cisco may be used as bait only in Bear Lake.
• Dead yellow perch may be used as bait only in Deer Creek, Echo, Fish Lake, Gunnison, Hyrum, Johnson, Jordanelle, Mantua, Mill Meadow, Newton, Pineview, Rockport, Starvation, Utah Lake, Willard Bay and Yuba reservoirs.• Dead white bass may be used as bait only in Utah Lake and the Jordan River.
• Dead shad from Lake Powell may be used as bait only in Lake Powell. It is illegal to remove dead shad from the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
• Dead striped bass from Lake Powell may be used as bait or chum only in Lake Powell.
[red]• Dead, fresh or frozen saltwater species, including sardines and anchovies, may be used as bait in any water where bait is permitted.
• Dead mountain sucker, white sucker, Utah sucker, redside shiner, speckled dace, mottled sculpin, fathead minnow, Utah chub and common carp may be used as
bait in any water where bait is permitted.[/red]
