Book Review - "Big Trout!" by Ray Johnson
#6
I remember when Ray Johnson was on the news all the time. I bought his book and tried his methods unsuccessfully. I wrote him a letter and he wrote back and invited me to go fishing at Strawberry with him. We set up a time and place to meet and he never showed up. I tried calling and got his wife but she did not know where he was. I never did hear back from him.

I also talked to Steve Brown about him when he worked at channel 4 years ago. The book talked about Steve and his camera man fishing with Ray. Steve said it never happened.

The last I heard of Ray was a couple of years ago. A reporter from KSL I think went and fished with him. All they caught were some small mac. The report said Ray lived in Manilla and still fished almost every day he can.

I kind of idealized him when I was in high school. Now I think a lot of his stuff is just fluff. He probably is a pretty good fisherman and a legend in his own mind.
