What a difference a day makes ... Strawberry
#32

[#0000ff]

If I may be so bold as to suggest that you seem to be blaming BFT for the big increase in traffic on Strawberry this year...especially for kokanee. Do you have any idea how much Strawberry is publicized in the media...newpapers, TV, hot spot boards? I spent some time at a Sportsmans store in August and overheard at least two conversations between salesmen and customers...where there was a whole lot of non-discreet divulging of info. Of course that is how they sell tackle.

It is obvious that you favor Strawberry. But don't take ownership of it and put up blockades to all the other Utah anglers who want to get in on the action too. Strawberry is a big water...and a legacy to Utah anglers going back many generations. Even on its busiest day these days it is nothing compared to the floating armadas of old...and some stretches of shoreline shoulder to shoulder with cheese chuckers.

People stealing fly patterns? You have found the way to control that. Anything shared on the Internet is forever public domain. If ya wanna keep it private...don't post it.

Peace, love and Kumbaya

You do realize that the fishing clerks at sportsmans post here don't you?
Not fair to make the statement that think I deserve to take ownership of Strawberry. Couldn't be more false in every aspect.
I have fished Strawberry probably as many years as you ol' friend[Wink] Not giving away age here..LOL

I am NOT saying to discontinue the post, they are great and I do make a living from fishing so I am aware of these other sources you speak of, but they are not as easily accessed as they are here. Maybe Media jumped in because of all the Net publicity. It works both ways.

I love Coots post and majority of the other MAYBE 80 full time posters here...but that is not who is reading this. We are not talking 50 to 80 people we are talking 100's and 1,000's at time.

I did "share/help" others with my fly pattern. No problem but when they claim they are theirs is when I quit. Key word "quit". My mistake.

Up2nogood, Charina, Heybassman I am not a haysayer. My comment was you sure you want to share this with all the others including NON BFTers, that is all.
So everyone can put their shorts back where they belong and go fish.
I was hoping someone would mention the old days, I can only reference as far back as the late sixties. Opening day was a sight to behold, combat fishing at its finest, and the crowds now IMHO are not even close.

I am fortunate enough these days to be able to fish Strawberry on the weekdays, and find it very pleasant, and a pleasure to fish . Where we fish there are the regulars, and always nice trading flies, and techniques .

FG, thanks for caring, but again IMHO I have not seen much change in the fishing pressure on Strawberry over the years , but I don't fish the weekends anymore, other the a couple Saturday's ago, and it was not that bad where we were at, but its a big lake. FYI my shorts were always where they belonged, but thanks anyway. [Smile]
