I think the fish and game is addressing that issue just fine by requesting anglers to keep fish, but there is no way spearfisherman are going to put a dent in the population of small fish. Think of it this way, pick the 10 best bass fisherman that you know and challenge them to catch and keep a limit every outing for at least a dozen outings. What impact could they possibly make?
The answer is 720 small bass harvested from a population of several hundred thousands to a few million. Seems quite unlikely to me that if 10 spearfisherman tried the same thing that they could be as successful and if they were that is the only impact they could make in a year (assuming those guys were able to make 12 outings). Statistically insignificant.
Lets all try thinking of this thing logically instead of emotionally. Anti hunting is emotionally and not logically supported and imagine how most of us on this forum would feel if hunting were banned just because it upsets a minority of our population.
Oh, and regarding your question? Why don't YOU keep and kill the dinks and help out the fishery? They taste great!
