Call it what you will, hunting, fishing, etc....
What is certain is that it could not possibly be making much of an impact due to the low number of those practicing it. If you wanted to get into a semantic debate about what to call it then so be it. The target is "fish" so therefore its "fishing". I never called it "angling" which is perhaps what you
it with. If "fisherman" use nets to catch fish it is still called "fishing", therefore it is regulated as a "fishing" sport in utah and not hunting. Talk about wanting to confuse the issue.......
It really just sounds like you think that the spear fisherman takes unfair advantage and you're bugged by that. That's your right to think that and I support your right to be against it just as I totally support the spearfishermans right to practice their sport under the protection of the state regulations as spelled out in the "fishing" proclamation.
Either way, no matter what you call it, it is legal and hurts no one any more than the other quarter to half million rod anglers in this state that are keeping their trophy fish too when they have the chance.
