Much like a swimming pool, it's not the urine (which is pretty much sterile) it is the fecal matter that brings the problems with it. And while cows do their thing, and deer, and whatever else, domestic dogs are much more likely to be carrying parasites and diseases that can be transmitted to humans.
But since I don't have to drink water that comes from Deer Creek I don't care
