Gotta admit your pics of the pipe pingers brought a tear to my eye...after I quit chortling and guffawing.
I had a similar "moment" on Willard a few years ago when a showoff ski boat impaled itself on a rock hump out off Eagle Beach. They kept coming closer and I tried to wave them off. But when they waved back they didn't use all their fingers. Can you imagine that they asked me to help them when they tore out the transom of their boat? Glad I don't carry a cell phone. I may have been tempted to summon help. Unfortunately, there was another boat in the area that pulled them off.
Looks like the water levels are at least a foot lower at this time than they were last year. The fish will be wearing tennies soon.
