just to chime in on night fishing, This time of year that's about the only time I will fish. The first time out is sort of different, but after you get used to it, there is no better way to fish in the dog days of summer.
I have the cheap battery lanterns, ( 3 inch tall ) set up on the rails of the boat, and very good spot light, and a good head lamp. That lanterns will give some reflective light on the shore, head lamp to re-tie.
It is also a good idea to have a good GPS, in case you wish to move around the lake.
Night fishing is very very peaceful.
