upper salmon/south fork Chinook season set
#74
Fished the South Fork around mile 28 non-stop from 5:30AM to 11:00AM on 7/4. Saw 1 salmon hauling arse downstream at 5:40. That was it. Water level had dropped almost a foot from the previous weekend. Any fish passing would have been very obvious in the narrow channel I was fishing. Some Natives camped next to me took one salmon with a spear after dark using lights after two hours of trying. Saw one other jack caught by someone on the way out.

I'm having a very hard time believing the reported harvest numbers. The survey guys I spoke to indicated they were not hearing of many fish being caught. Looks like they will just keep posting numbers and then close the season in a few days with very few fish having even started up the river.
