My understanding is that they are doing more and more of that all the time. I have heard of them doing it with the sawtooth fish. Hence all the wild fish we see on that run.
All the fall chinook that we are starting to see is a result of this. Sorta. All those fish are left in the river to spawn naturally. But aside from that, we get a bunch of smolts from some hatchery in OR (maybe WA, it's all the same to me) that get released into the Snake and Clearwater every year.
