Idaho Salmon Fishing Etiquette
#69
The salmon and steelhead once spawned in rock creek and salmon falls creek which comes out of northern Nevada. They now haul the eggs from hells canyon dam to the national and state hatcheries near twin falls, then they haul the smolts back to hells canyon. Our sturgeon are native and they are reproducing, however they are starving because they are no carcasses to eat. There are a type of lamprey below lower salmon falls dam that are also land locked. I've been all over the west and live here because of the snake river. They shut the river down at Milner for irrigation and this year there is no extra for Shoshone falls. Was at the boat ramp today and there is no way I could even get my jetboat off the trailer. Guess I'll go bass fishing. Your no allowed to even fish for sturgeon in the Clearwater. Have a friend who caught a 6 ftr at corn creek near salmon a couple years ago. When I floated the middle fork, it looked like a sturgeon river. Greys landing at salmon falls creek res was called the greys ranch and old man grey settled there because his Pawnee wife enjoyed the salmon in the creek. If we get some water your invited. Hey Ron that's a real nice bridge.
