Idaho Salmon Fishing Etiquette
#20
This attitude isn't unique to ID. Its pretty common anywhere you find salmon. Ive seen it on OR and WA rivers plenty too. I saw two guys get in a fight and one push the other off a cliff at Shears falls on the Deschutes River. I never really understood it. But at the same time someone showing up after sunup isn't going to crown into a spot we've been sitting on since 3am. Plenty of good people around too...some just take time to get to know.

I think its like it is in ID cuz theres limited bank fishing and we have to wait so long for the fish to get here that we're all cranked up.
Not trying to be combative or start anyting. Just pointing out in my opinion it would not be fair to stereo type those who fish for Salmon.

I have seen people in 2 different boats lake trolling for trout on Cascade go at it threatening to beat each other up, folks crappie fishing off CJ strike dam show epic signs of douche baggery, people leaving thier fece's and toilet paper on the shores of the Owyhee river (no salmon there) and people pullng a wake boarder in a 25 foot boat with in 10 feet of 2 good ol boys trolling in a 10 foot row boat.

Bottom line in my opinion is it is not Salmon fisherman but the same age old issue when ever dealing with people, no matter whether it is fishing or going to the mall...there is always going be a Ice Hole in every crowd.
