Ratfinks a great fisherman. He's been steelheading the SF for years and been going after springers with me for the last 2. He also uses braid in the main and Little rivers. As far as this his mono speel. We were fishing up at the mouth of the Rapid last year and they wanted us to use mono. I didnt want to re-spool so didnt, he did. Thats what that was all about.
You cant argue mono doesnt holds up better in snaggy stuff just like you cant argue braid is way more sensitive. Each has its place and you have to except eachs short comings.
IDFG just updated the ID salmon quotas. Got some fun times ahead. Im thinking theyr counts are a little low, as we as of yesterday had (by my calculations w/correction factor) right about 19300 RR fish over Bonn dam. Weve been getting about 300-400 RR adults the last few days as the run dwindles down but should get easily another 1000 RR fish over Bonn before they magically switch from springers to summers.....unless they open up the lower/mid columbia after 2morrows meeting.
