I caught one many, many years ago in Gunnison Bend Res. I was a teenager, but I was obsessed with fishing. I'd caught black and white crappie, bluegill and green sunfish out of there and knew what they were, but this one wasn't colored right for a green, had too big of a mouth for a bluegill, and definitely wasn't a crappie. After a little research, I found out it was a Sacramento Perch. Before the power plant was built, they did some studies (gill-net or electroshock, I'm not sure) of both DMAD and Gunnison Bend. One of the surprising things that they found in Gunnison Bend (at least to me) was the sacramento perch along with cutthroat trout still in there.
I don't know how many still exist there since after the floods of 1983, but I think there are still some out there. The one I caught was about 6" long, so I thought it was pretty good sized for a sunfish.
