I got out again today with the Traveling Fly Box for some time in the sun and warmth. I’ve been fishing more than normal with the box because I’ll be leaving town next week for about 10 days and will have to pass the box on to the next person. Today I fished the Henrys Lake Outlet which runs several miles between Henrys Lake and Henrys Fork through the Flat in the northern part of Island Park. Snowshoes are almost required this time of year on the Outlet. I used two flies that I added to the box. A #18 black zebra midge and a #16 green Copper John. I could see the fish in the shallow clear water. The flow from the lake is only 4 cfs. The lake is at 89% so with all the runoff coming I would think they might be releasing somewater soon which should make the outlet fish better. Today, between 1 and 4 PM, I released 12 rainbows all under 10 inches, two brookies the largest at 12 inches and 3 nice cutts that measured about 17 inches. Another good day on thewater.
