I have six of these and for the price and quality I couldn't be happier. Four are on 8'6" ML rods and two are on 5'.
That 8'6" ML will handle the biggest Wipers and Mac's but still sensitive enough for soft mouth salmon.
For the main line I use 12 pound Trilene XT, with a fluorocarbon leader.
