Everyone has given you great information on the how to's of getting into fly fishing. I've got one other tip for you. If you have grown up fishing with a spinning rod and monofilament line there is something you need to know. The leader and tippet at the end of your fly line are the only portion that have any stretch in them. That means you have to adopt a whole new hook set mentality. A quick short lift of the rod is all it takes, that's if the fish hasn't already hooked itself and then you just hang on. The first fish I caught on a fly rod, I had to duck as he was going by. [laugh] One other tip, when starting out I would use a little heavier leader & tippet, say 8# leader, 6# tippet. You can pull down some pretty good branches with that and save a few flies in the process. [fishin]
