. If you have ever spent a day even on the South Fork just look at all that brand new gear people are wearing. A lot of the days I don't even know the languages that are being spoke, many diversities. I hope that competition will be good.

I tend to get over stimulated in cabelas or bass pro shops and after a half hour in them i start to want to claw my eyes out of my face. I also believe it will be good for the local economy. most people believe that when a buisness like cabelas moves in to the area it will destroy all of the small local shops. its quite the opposit actually. as long as they are willing to try and compete with some sales (one of the few things i remember from an economics class i took.)
I guess with smart phones and gps and the known brand of Cabelas, visitors to the area, passing "directly" through anyways and not just heading north or south on I-15 it will get business that way. Those people don't know the Sportsmans brand, they know Cabelas, which they may search for on their phone while in the area. Many will see Sportsmans on the way and stop there too. The local crowd will compare and shop as always with another option to choose from. Jimmys downtown and all the shops on the South Fork, or wherever their ultimate destination is will not be hurt much if any, same as when online shopping came into vogue. That may have hurt a shop like Jimmys when online happened but good specialty shops will still draw their customer base, especially shops at the destination.
Clawing your eyes out at over stimulation from all the shiny choices? I sure glad I not the only one who gets that way but I am pulled to shiny things as easy as anyone, probably more so.
Cabelas in Idaho Falls. It is a diluted brand anymore, no more "mystic" or excitement as in days of yore. Stop into Reeds in Walker, Minnesota. Now that is a fishing store more than worthy of extreme and happy eye clawing.
