the size of the store says a lot about what their intentions are. just over 40,000 suare feet. this is far smaller than what people expect when they hear cabelas. the reason they are fine with it being several miles away from a freeway is because its not a store aimed at atracting people passing through. it's meant to cater to locals. in a press release cabelas said the store will have a museum quality animal taxidermy exhibit an archery shop, gun counter and seasonal products. there was no mention of a resteraunt, gift shop, gun museum, aquarium, fly shop, etc. my guess is the store will not have many of the things that we are custom to when visiting a cabelas. personally I think its good it will be small and away from tourists. I tend to get over stimulated in cabelas or bass pro shops and after a half hour in them i start to want to claw my eyes out of my face. I also believe it will be good for the local economy. most people believe that when a buisness like cabelas moves in to the area it will destroy all of the small local shops. its quite the opposit actually. as long as they are willing to try and compete with some sales (one of the few things i remember from an economics class i took.)
