Spring just reached Utah in the last couple days according to my observations while hiking down on the lowest elevation stretch of Utah today. I saw just a few Cottonwoods and a single Honey Mesquite tree that were budding/ leafing out. The Catclaw Acacia trees look nice with red mistletoe in them but all were are all still dormant. Saw countless wildflower plants in the area and a very rare one was starting to bloom and even rarer were a couple already in bloom. It hit 60 before noon and there was just a trace of snow in sight scattered on the highest reaches of the Beaver Dam Mountains. Now we just have to wait as it slowly moves to higher ground and North. St George in 2 weeks and SLC in 2 months is my prediction. The only problem with the warmer weather was my favorite stretch of shoreline on Quail Creek Reservoir was totally overrun with about 2 dozen folks already fishing when I got there later in the afternoon.
