My partner and I went out to BigSand Bay on Sunday. We Caught some nice trout but no walleye. Neither of us has ever caught a walleye through the ice out there. The ice was 8 to 10 inches thick and safe. I would be careful at Norton bay, the ice varies in thickness. Big Sand bay has mostly a sand bottom, with rocks on some edges. Be careful drilling holes, people leave rocks on the surface and they become covered and can ruin a auger blade. I would appreciate any info you might have on catching walleye through the ice as I gave not been successful.
