Great day in the marsh.. and Duck ID?
#1
Took off work at lunch time yesterday, since the low cloud cover and strong north winds were driving me nuts. I knew the ducks would be flying, and they were. There was a lot more action than I normally get down here in Utah County, at least until late season. There were mallards galore. I shot a couple green heads, then decided I was going to try for my first ever full green head limit. I passed on a ton of shovelers, a few gadwall, some GWT, and all hens. Finally, had 6 drakes, when I get two teal committed into the decoys. WHAT?!?! Blue, not green. So, I dropped one. So, I now had my limit, still ducks everywhere and a good half hour left until sunset. It was a great hunt, at least where I hunt.
Now, to the ID question. I know everyone says 90%+ of teal people think are blue wing are just cinnamons. I have never shot either, so I am no expert on the matter. I don't have great pics, but can anyone tell for sure which it is. Obviously not a drake of either I would say, but they both were the same (hens?).
