Love that basket pic haha, you can really see the size of the perch in comparison to the cats. Gonna have to try for a 14 in perch myself! haha. You got that right about those shad being super stinky. The fishiest, downright nastiest fish ever created I think lol. Carp smell like flowers in comparison lmao. Everything in willard smells like them too unfortunately since everything will eat shad here and there. Red meat lateral stripe removal is a must on all fish species at willard for me. Even for fish that are usually mild. I love crappie and walleye but both need special detox treatment when they are from willard. The lateral stripe on eyes from UL are delicious and have a distinct yummy walleye flava. Not so on willard eyes LOL. Even crappie need to special surgery. Those shad oils are all stored on the red muscle tissue it seems lol. Once that is removed, the fillet goes back to delicious. Wiper stripe tastes incredibly horrid, one of the most horrific things I've eaten lol. When I first caught them didn't know and didn't bother to remove the lateral muscle. What an unpleasant mistake. Wiper fillet without the red meat, ahhhh as yummy as walleye! Well almost.
