Pinks do get a bad rap.
I did find this pdf on some of the salmon runs. If you look down at the Puyallup and Carbon Rivers,then Chinooks, Cohos, and Pinks are all there in the last part of Sept. But it looks like Chinooks and Pinks are at the end of their run, so I would have to change my guess to probably Cohos since it would be closer to the middle of their run.

Off topic a little.... when my kids were small they were playing in a pool of the creek when suddenly the oldest.. (about 5yrs old) started screaming that there was a shark!
I looked and there was the biggest bright red sockeye that I have ever seen in their little wading pool!! To this day she still laughs about the huge red shark that almost got them!
