I called up powers that be today to see if they might extend area for salmon season up Clearwater way towards Orofino being that there are so many fish coming up. The response after moving me up the chain of command was a absolutely, positively, no. He made comments like, "The fall salmon are on the endangered species list and to just get the permits to take what they have is all that they can do. That the only ones that can harvest these (past Memorial bridge)are native americans. So I made the comment that I was going to be up fishing for steelhead at Thanksgiving in Orofino and could I go into the hatchery and get an eater fish that I could take home. Again the answer was absolutely, positively, no. All these fish are given to the tribes and we are not allowed any. He said that there is something in the works for a couple of years down the line that would allow anglers to harvest a salmon that even has its back antipose fin, that will be interesting to see if it happens. So I guess I have to live my salmon fishing vicariously through your catches chrome!
Keep the pictures coming.
