I like the information that everyone has given but.....I really do not like combos. The reels are always terrible, usually made of plastic and really freeze up bad. If your fishing for anything of size by a good cheep reel like an Okuma to go on your ice rods.


As far as a "flasher" goes...I would rather fish naked on the ice than forget my flasher. I caught a lot of fish before I had a flasher. The flasher has doubled my catch rate.
