I respectfully disagree. That being said, we all fish different ways and do whatever works for us individually.
Using a flasher to its full potential means fishing one rod. Learn and study everything you see on the screen. Learn how to fish each lure, and change lures if it's not working. You become much more efficient this way. Move holes constantly when you aren't seeing fish. Drill, drill and drill.
Again, my $.02
SD and DF,
I just thought I'd share my $.02 on this. I've found that whether a flasher has much value to me, or not, on any given day, depends largely on the type of fish I'm targeting, the mood of the fish, and the depth of water.
When fishing trout in shallow water, ~10 feet or less, I don't find my flasher to be all that useful as trout move almost constantly and bite fairly quickly, or move on, and about the same time that I see the fish on my flasher it is either biting my hook, or gone. So it is only marginally helpful. Occasionally trout will slow down and bite more finicky, and then the flasher is more useful when targeting them in shallow water.
When fishing in water deeper than 10 feet, or for perch, I wouldn't want to fish without my flasher. I can know that there is a fish looking at my bait see what type of action, or lack there of, that entices the fish to bite. Perch often stick around longer, and are more finicky about biting, so the flasher is pretty much indispensable once you learn to use it.
That's my thoughts on it anyway. Useful or not, I don't like to go without it.
