Line for tuna

I have caught Yellow fin over 250 no problem 50 mono on spectra. To much drag. If you go to heavier line you will have less capacity. Were you on anchor or trolling ? I have never lost a tuna after I am hooked up. I caught an Albacore that went 60 lbs. on 30 lb. test on a worm king.
